New lodge offers luxury

A $300,000 ski lodge promising luxury and privacy is to be built in Ohakune's Miro Park * soon. Breckenridge Lodge y has already caught the ^ imagination of skiers here and overseas. The lodge will be built on - the Miro Park subdivision i at the Junction in Ohakune, and will offer 3,500 square , feet of luxury accommoda- L tion to a cross section of skiers, from the single skiing sportsman or woman, to the , family skiers looking for * regular ski accommodation at a cost that is not exorbitant. Breckenridge will be restricted to a membership of 50 shareholders who buy into the lodge for the one price of $8,000 per share. At any one time the lodge will accommodate 26 people, and has the best bed/shareholder ratio of any ski lodge in New Zealand. To cater for the different needs of the members of the lodge, individuality and privacy have been the criteria in the planning of sleeping

arrangements. Individual rooms accommodate varying numbers of beds and bunks, and a large family-orientated room has six bunks and an attached but separate double bedroom. In addition to a fully equipped kitchen, a large dining room, a sauna and service areas for the drying and storing of ski equipment, there is a spacious main lounge area which looks

straight out onto the mountains and native bush. The lounge provides the central relaxation and recreation centre for the lodge members, while overlooking the lounge is a mezzanine floor primarily designed for apres ski socialising for the adult members. Interest from prospective shareholders has been instant, particularly from overseas skiers including some

from Hong Kong, Australia and England as well as several interested people from the New Zealand skiing fraternity. Once a shareholder pays the $8,000 allocation in the lodge, it is a permanent membership, but can be sold at any time, although other lodge members must have first option on that share before it is offered to non members.
