THIEVES TAKE FLAGS

Promotional flags raised to help mark Ohakune's role in hosting the Subaru National Ski Championship were stolen last week. Three flags, promoting Subaru, Turoa and McDonalds, were stolen on Sunday night from the forecourt of the Ruapehu Outback Adventures offices in Clyde Street. Sue Allomes, a partner in Outback Adventures and organising secretary for the championships, said she and her husband Don had gone to a lot of trouble to get and set up the flag poles and flags. The theft angered them. The poles were found lying on the ground undamaged, but without the flags, on Monday morning.
