CHANGES IN LAMB GRADES
There has been a change in lamb grades for the coming season, President of the Waimarino bratich of Federated Farmcrs, Doug Bennett reports. Yellow carcasses are no longer required by overseas markets due to buyer resistance. so they ean be disposed of as is seeh fit, provided they are not exported in anv edihle form. The upper weight limit oi 25 kilogram carcasses has been abolished. There is now no upper weight limit and the GR measurement (measure of lat overthe ribs) has taken its placc. A new grade has been introduced. the YX grade. which are for carcasses weighing 16.5 kilogramsand over. and up to and including nine millimetres GR. which may he split on weight for market purposes. Mr Bennett rep'orts that there is a good return of tw ins w ith the earlv lamhs in the Waimarino. He says the winter so far has been mild lor farmers. w ith some grass growth "Its looking good lor a healthy spring."
