APPEAL FOR SUPPORT
Next week the Order of St John makes its once a year appeal to the community for support. In opening the appeal week, the Order's Chancellor Sir Randal Elliott said that St John last year helped someone in need every ninety seconds, every day of the year. Sir Randal said that all funds raised in an area would stay with the local St John Association serving that area. This year, for the first time, St John will have the help of the Bank of New Zealand which has placed collection boxes for the appeal in each of their branches.
