More than 150 entries expected
Pictured is Catherine Dodd, the Ruapehu Region's Information Officer with some of the works of art which have been handed in for the Ohakune Art Awards which will be judged this weekend.
Catherine has received 120 paintings already and another 30 are expected. The awards have been taking place annually for five years and this year are being organised by Ellen Gould and Margaret Home "with a very supportive committee." The paintings and drawings will be exhibited in the Ohakune Club all next week
with a preview being held for artists and invited guests on Sunday. The exhibition will be open to the public from 1 0am-6pm daily. Brian Carmody, from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington, will be the judge for the awards.
