Tree planting in National Park

Twelve hundred trees are being planted in National Park by Kevin Murcott, the town's caretaker, to replacethe pinus contorta which has been removed. About 1 3 varieties of trees have been brought into National Park from Hawkes Bay and Bulls and Mr Murcott is planting them on properties in the town which have had contorta, a nox-

ious plant, removed from then. Mr Murcott is also planting shrubs and flowers to beautify National Park township. totaras, Silver Pine, Rimus and other native trees have been established in the main street. Mr Murcott is employed by the Taumarunui County Council.to look after National Park.
