The following cases were heard by Judge E. W. Unwin at the Ohakune District Court last Thursday 22 August. Sgt. Neil Coker appeared for the police. ★ ★ ★ John Ranginui, 38, farm manager of Ruatiti, was ordered to enter into a bond for $1,000 with a surety of the same amount when he appeared on a charge of dangerous driving following a defended hearing in the Ohakune District Court last month. The charge of presenting a firearm was dismissed and the charge of assault, laid as an alternative to the driving charge, was withdrawn. A bond to keep the peace towards Mr P. J. Cornelius for 12 months was the

penalty imposed on the defendant for an incident arising out of one of the plaintiffs cows which became caught up with Ruatiti Station stock. His Honour said the Court did not want to exacerbate the problems of Ruatiti Valley but added that there had been no winners and no losers in the rather stupid series of events that had occurred. Costs of $125 and witnesses expenses of $ 1 92 were imposed. ★ ★ ★ Malcolm Bowring, 18, unemployed of Raetihi, appeared for sentence on charges of intent to defraud by selling a car obtained on hire purchase and theft of a car.
