Animal lover angry
The Bulletin was contacted recently by an irate animal-lover asking for the plight of a dog to be publicised in hope that such publicity would make others aware of the sometimes thoughtless, j sometimes deliberate cruelty suffered by animals. It was reported that a large dog had been left in a car without food and water near the Ohakune Ranger Station at about 9.00am. The owners had apparently gone skiing for the day as they had been seen by others (who were not aware of the dog that was being left behind) hitch-hiking up the Mountain Road. When the Bulletin checked out the report some time later sure enough there was a very large black dog in a Peugeot 404 (Reg. No. EH4451) parked opposite the Ranger Station. One window was slightly open and no water bowl could be seen. "To whom it may concern you are miserable sods leaving this large dog in this poxy little car. Hope you didn 't break your legs skiing because you damn well deserved to!" signed,
'Animal
Lover'
The car with the dog in it was still there at 5pm.
