Ohakune Hotel to host 'Buckets'

Auckland based clul and pub band 'The Buckets' is off for a jaunt around the centre of the North Island in mid- August. They will be at the Ohakune Hotel next Monday and Tuesday evenings. 'The Buckets' are a young four piece band whose music is based on a large repertoire of original songs. Some of these originals have already become standards for the sizeable Bucket following in ■ Auckland. The band has been gigging around for the best part of two years and a desire to see a bit more of the country has led to the Buckets' tour.

The fact that the band has not split up is due in large part to Mike Goody's visionary enthusiasm. His is an enthusiasm that remains apparently inexhaustible. During a recent 1ZM interview Goody was asked what were the Buckets' future plans. "To get a single out," Goody replied, "and to foot-it with the big boys at the top of the NZ music scene." The present Buckets' line up is strong and secure and intends to give the attaining of Goody's ambition their best shot. But who exactly are 'The Buckets'? To quote the Auckland Star, 'The Buckets' are "fronted by keen red head Mike Goody." Goody

sings and plays rhythm guitar and remains the mainstay of the band. On lead guitar is Mark Gasparich. Mark presently balances his commitments to 'The Buckets' with his job as a metallurgist. On drums is Derek Metivier. He is relatively new to the band but is experienced in the rock scene, his last band being 'The Catch'. On electric bass is Grant Hannis. He remains confident that if any new band in Auckland is going to make it, that band will be 'The Buckets'. So if you're going to be around in mid August, why not come and enjoy an evening with the band?
