Snow caused problems
Both Whakapapa and Turoa skifields were closed by the weekend's heavy snowfalls. Both roads to the Chateau were closed for a time and skiers who made it to Ohakune were unable to take advantage of the new show, as the Turoa slopes were closed because of the conditions.
The Desert Road was closed for most of the weekend, with the TaihapeWaiouru Road being closed on Sunday. However, conditions improved yesterday (Monday) and winter sports enthusiasts were in action on both Whakapapa and Turoa skifields.
