Rotary Club's new president inducted
Mr Gavin Jones of Rangataua was inducted as the new president of the Ohakune-Raetihi Rotary Club by Mr Hal Manson, of Raetihi last week. The changeover of presidents took place at a Rotary dinner held at the Hobbit Motel in Ohakune. In his speech, outgoing president, Mr Tom Brummer, of Raetihi spoke about the club's activities during the past year. Rotary has hosted an exchange student from America, Gilbert Miller, for the year. He is attending
seventh form at Ruapehu College and is being hosted by three Rotarian families and one non-Rotarian family in the district during the time he is here. The Ohakune-Raetihi club sponsored a child from Ruapehu College to sail on the yacht, Spirit of Adventure, equipped St Andrew's School in Tonga with woodworking tools and is selling the Tongan pupils' handcrafts in New Zealand. A six-man Brazilian study team was hosted by the club, as was a three-man Chinese exchange group. A year's subscription to National Geographic maga-
zine was bought for Oha-r organisations including the kune and Raetihi primary Waimarino Pony Club and sehools and for Ruapehu Ohakune Kohanga Reo. College.
