Farewell to Graeme

A farewell party is being beld tomorrow night (Wednesday) for Waimarino's traffic officer, Mr Graeme Cole. Graeme leaves next week for Wellington, following his promotion to training sergeant. Graeme and his wife Barbara-Jane have lived in

Ohakune for five years "and during that time we've gained two children and a . cat," he says. Prior to coming to Ohakune, Graeme was stationed in Lower Hutt and the Wellington area. He was given 24 hours to decide whether to take the job offered to him in the Waimarino and says he has never regretted the decision he made. On returning to Wellington, Graeme will be one of eight sergeants involved in the training and supervision of other staff. While in the Waimarino, Graeme became involved in many community activities. He was an active member of the Jaycees, the Red Cross committee, was involved with the Ohakune Kindergarten and was a vestryman for the Anglican Church. While here he also took up golf and fly fishing. Barbara-Jane was active in the local badminton club. An officer to replace Graeme has not yet been appointed. After Graeme leaves and before a replacement is appointed, the Waimarino will be covered by traffic officers from Wanganui, Taumarunui and Waiouru.
