Old time dance

A small crowd of people attended an 'old time dance' held at Orautoha School Hall, Ruatiti last weekend. A pianist provided entertainment and the group enjoyed a good supper before an open fire, said Mr Alan Bowater, of Raetihi. The group consisted mostly of members of a dancing club which formerly put on dances in Raetihi, Ohakune and Rangataua,

but due to a reduced level of support the members now only stage occasional dances at the Orautoha Hall. They use the hall because of its *atmosphere. Many of the dancing enthusiasts live near Ruatiti and in Raetihi so it is also convenient for them to travel to the dances. Although the weather was very bad, it did not deter the dancing enthusiasts from attending Saturday's dance.
