Delay over Raetihi's town plan
The subject of Raetihi's town plan was raised at last week's meeting of the town's borough council. Cr Andrew Cornwall brought to the attention of fellow councillors the fact that there have been numerous delays in finalising the town plan. "The matter has to be resolved," he said. The council decided on the plan prior to Christmas, and "a lot of people are aware of its details in an unofficial manner." The situation was "starting to get embarrassing." Cr Cornwall said it
would be quite wrong for any councillor to make any business moves which drew on a knowledge of the town plan. Because the plan had not been officially finalised councillors could be hamstrung in their business moves. A draft of the town plan has been drawn up but it has not been through the mechahism of public hearings and objections. Councillors will meet with Raetihi town planner Mr L. Petherick on 10th July to discuss the subject.
