Win for Raetihi Rebels

Raetihi Rebels hockey team continued in fine form on Saturday, despite wet muddy conditions, to defeat Utiku Old Girls 3 at Taihape. The victory made Raetihi first round winners of the Ruapehu ladies' hockey competition. With a slightly rearranged forward line Rebels were able to capitalise on any loose ball. Although down 1-0 in the first five minutes it was aggression and determination that brought this team through. Three good goals scored

by Charmaine Green, and one each by Thelma Berry, Enid Windle and Kathy Francis gave Rebels a comfort^ble victory. Margie Berry played her usual safe game as centre half and Joan Oliver persevered well. Clare Fahey, playing her first season of hockey, was a much improved player, ably assisted by Kathy Francis in the backs. Three girls from the Rebel team have been chosen for the Ruapehu Reps to play at Napier in September — Enid Windle, Kathy Francis and Charmaine Green. Unavailable were Margie Berry and Thelma Berry. Raetihi Rebels play Major Sport at Raetihi on Saturday.
