Ohakune Library news
New books in the Ohakune Library include these popular titles for adults: 'Tavern in the Town' by James McNeish, 'The Bone People' by Keri Hulme, 'The Raj Quartet' by Paul Scott, 'Alison Holst Cooks'.
Coming soon will be Sidney Sheldon's 'If Tomorrow Comes' and 'San Andreas' by Alistair McLean. Among the two dozen or so new books for children are: 'Watercress Tuna & the Children of Champion Street' by P. Grace, 'The Fish of Our Fathers' by
Bacon Jahuke, 'Harriet the Spy' by Louise Fitzhugh, 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13%' by Sue Townsend. The schools' library service in Wanganui continues to supply the library with about 50 books for children and teenagers every five to six weeks. These are excellent books and very popular. Loan collections for adults include Stained glass, large print, and travel and biography. During May council increased library charges as follows: subs $5, bond $25, reserved books (adults) 50c, replacement cards 50c, fines 50c per book each week overdue. So what about returning those books or renewing them? Books cost more now and fewer can be bought with the funds available. If all those overdue books were returned there would be fewer gaps on the shelves.
