Squash results
In an exciting five set contest, John Laurenson, took the first division of the Waimarino Squash Club's internal tournament held on Friday and Saturday. Stu Fowlie, who had surprised many spectators by eliminating top seed Ross Gillett in the semi-finals, came from two games down to level the match before tiring in the fifth. Keith Leary won division two by defeating Aroha Irwin in another closely fought match. Results: Division one: J. Laurenson beat S. Fowlie 9/8 9/0 6/9 7/9 9/2. Plate: Barre Johns. Consolation: Graeme Irwin. Special plate: Garrick Workman. Division two: K. Leary beat A. Irwin 9/10 9/7 9/4 7/9 9/3. Plate: Noeline Pikari. Consolation: Chris Hawira. Special: Marty McGrath.
Division three: Matthew Mowat beat Alistair Mcllwrick 9/2 9/7 4/9 . 9/6. Plate: Vicki Pearce. Consolation: Dohna McGrath. Special: Glenys Fowlie. Division four: Kevin Dowman beat Stuart Pearson 9/0 9/3 9/1. Plate: Sue Pearson. Consolation: Chris Johns. Special: Michelle Seebeck. Most commendable performance for the tournament: Jason HaitSna. ★ ★ ★ The Waimarino men's division four side lead the Central Districts inter-club competition after three rounds with 13 points. Waiouru lie fourth with eight points. In division eight, the tables are turned with Waiouru leading with 14 points and Waimarino fourth equal with two. Waimarino women's division three team are fifth with nine points.
