Eleven Anglicans were presented for confirmation by the Right Reverend Sir Edward Norman, Bishop of Wellington, at St. Mary's Church in Raetihi last Sunday. Raetihi Anglican minister, Father Bob Peck, says there was standing room only in the church, with about 100 people attending. Those who were confirmed by the bishop were: Frances, Karen, Vicky and Hori Ketu, Margaret Olds, Leone and Roberta Paranihi, Veronica, Dean, John and Shannon Richards. Prior to the confirmation, John Murray Seifert, the infant son of Mr and Mrs David Seifert, was baptised. In that ceremony, the bishop blessed the water, Father T om Hawira asked the questions of the parents and godparents and the vicar baptised the infant. After the offertory, Bishop Norman instituted wardens of the district. They were

Following the service, the congregation gathered at St. , Mary's Hall for morning tea and two presentations were made. The first was to Mr and Mrs Basil Ward who are leaving on an overseas trip. Both have been very active in the church — Mrs Ward as church organiser and Mr Ward as parish treasurer. The second presentation was made to Mrs Anne Ede prior to her transfer to Auckland. Mrs Ede was very active in the conducting of a youth programme in the parish and was chalice bearer for the church.
