Road works

Raetihi based company, Waimarino Draglines, recently completed a SVSmillion contract in Waiouru for two kilometres of road incorporating a new bridge, alongside Hassett Drive. The road, to be used as a new access to the Waiouru Military Camp, is the first stage in a proposed long term plan to alter the layout of the military establishment. Hira Parata from Waimarino Draglines said last week that about half a kilometre of the road traverses swamp. According to Mr Parata, the timing of the operation was quite critical but fortunately the weather remained fine and more importantly dry to enable his company to comDlete the contract.
