During the early hours of Saturday morning, Reynolds Motors in Raetihi was broken into and a vehicle was taken but was left in a ditch nearby. The offenders then returned and took a Ford Falcon utility. Police saw the utility travelling towards Ohakune from Waiouru and the stolen vehicle was persued. The utility was finally abandoned by the offenders in a paddock off Mangarewa Road and the offenders ran off on foot. Police failed to locate the offenders. The utility was badly damaged. ★ ★ ★ A stereo, a large number of tapes and other personal items were stolen from a house in Valley Road, Raetihi on Wednesday. Burglars enteredby breaking down the back ddor of the house- ★ ★ ★ A break-in also occurred at the single men's quarters of the New Zealand Forest Service in Clyde Street, Ohakune last Wednesday and a quantity of cash was taken from a unit. ★ ★ ★ Also on Wednesday there was a report of a vehicle being unlawfully taken from Burn Street, Ohakune. Police later spoke to a 15-year-old youth in connection with the matter. He will be dealt with by the police youth aid section.
