Fashion parade

One hundred and fifty people attended a spectacular fashion parade and disco at Pipers Kings Court on Wednesday, the proceeds of which went to the Ohakune Primary School. This was the fifth year an annual parade of this type has been held in the town. "It has become one of the social events of Ohakune," says the organiser of the show, Mr Mike Wiggins. Ten female and seven male models took part in the

parade, with clothes from Junction Ski Shop, Ragtime, The Sheepskin Shop, Littles Menswear and shoes from the Ohakune Shoe Shop. On opening the show Mr Wiggins commented on the large increase in male models this year, which was pleasing to see, he said. All the female models

were from Ohakune and two of the seven male models were local, the others having travelled from Taihape for the evening. During the show, an impromptu striptease was performed by Taihape farmer, Michael Abraham, which amused the audience. Raylene Sue of Ohakune

performed a creative dance in a ski suit which was used in the 1984 Olympics. Supper was made by members of the Ohakune Primary School Committee and models were prepared by Carol Wilson. Mr Wiggins says he was pleased with the mixture of people who attended the show and was glad to see more men at the parade than in previous years.
