Poor response

There was a poor response from people in the Ruapehu region when a member of the government's Budget ^5 Task Force visited the area last week. Mr Rod Morine was in Ohakune and Raetihi seeking people 's views on the current tax and benefit laws. Less than half a dozen people called to see Mr Morine . during his two days in town. While here he was seeking submissions on aspects of current tax laws which people consider to be unfair, as well as submissions containing suggested improvements to the tax law. A public meeting on the issue will be held in Wanganui on Thursday 18th April — free transport to the meeting will be available for Raetihi and Ohakune residents if there is sufficient interest.
