Jim swaps petrol pumps for deer rifle!

Jim Goldfinch, owner of Cedar Service Station in Ohakune, has given up the business to enable him to pursue other interests. The service station has been taken over by two former Firestone employees from Wanganui. Bruce McDonald was the service manager of the Wanganui

Firestone store, and Warren Swain was the manager. Warren will not be coming to live in Ohakune for a month, but Bruce began work at the garage last week. Bruce says he decided to take over the service station with Warren because it was a chance for them to own their own business. Bruce knows Ohakune

well as he has visited the town regularly on business. Jim will continue to live in Ohakune, where he has spent most of his life, but will spend a lot of time pursuing his interest of deer-hunting. Hunting deer has been a hobby of Jim's for about 20 years, but he is now looking forward to taking it up professionally. Most of his

hunting will be carried out at Rangitaiki, on the NapierTaupo Highway. Although he will no longer be running the service station business, Jim will still own the property. He said this week that he had enjoyed his 3'A years at the garage, as it enabled him to meet visitors to the town and also keep in touch with the locals.
