What eleven-year-olds do

Pupils from Ohakune Primary School write about their spare time:— I like my spare time because I can go to my friend's place. I can play as much as I want, sometimes I play on my bike and sometimes 1 play on the trampoline, and sometimes 1 play in our spa. On Saturday one of my best friends is going to have a party and I'm invited. I've already got a present for her and I hope she likes it. My hobbies are* piano lessons, stamp .collecting, sticker collecting, yogurt containerscollection, rubber collecting, card collecting and squirt bottle collecting. Rachael Chan In spare time you can go up to the carrot and play there or in winter you can go up the mountain. We also have our bush

walks which you can go up with rangers who explain about the plants and trees. You can go to the picture theatre or you can always go for a picnic. In my spare time I go for bicycle rides with my friends and help at home. In the summer Ohakune's swimming baths are always fun. You can also go to the shops except for Saturday afternoon or Sundays. Even though Ohakune is not a big town or city there are still places to go around Ohakune and things to do and see. Asharie Perera In my family's spare time we always play a funword game. It is very good for your brain knowing how to spell a word. My mother always seems to win against me because she always makes big words. Sometimes on Friday

nights my two sisters Isadora, Celine and I, we go out to the pictures. Heaps of people go out on Friday nights. They go to the pub or go out to parties or make trouble in the street. Friday night is the night to go out because you go to the picture theatre. But it would be really good to have spare time. When you get home at the back of your house you could play softball, rugby, touch rugby, cricket, all sorts of things you can play. But my mother goes to work at half past three so Isadora, Celine and I go to help. Sometimes it gets boring. Coral Rahi Ohakune's picture theatre is called Kings Theatre. When the films start it is cartoons first. On Friday night it's late night and at the picture theatre it's full

because there are good movies on. Sometimes like when Ghostbusters was on, the song came on and everyone stamped their feet on the ground and shouted out Ghostbusters!!! Our picture theatre is very good because when you get your tickets you can get something to eat apart from things like ice creams. But if you want an ice cream there is a dairy just next to the picture theatre.
