Sale of 1½-year-old cattle
A sale of VA year old cattle was held at the Raetihi stock yards last Thursday. There was not a large bench of buyers but the sale was described as 'very satisfying' by vendors. Buyers travelled from Taihape,
Waverley, Turangi and Pukekohe for the sale. Vendors and prices were as follows: Dalgety Crown H. J. and G. Windle - 31 Santa Gertrudis Hereford cross steers, $697. L. J. Proud -20 Char, $620. W. Chan - 18 steers, $600. P. Rowe - 22 steers, $598. G. Dillon - 25 steers, $540; 5 I'A year steers, $516; 11 Sahiwal cross, $520. Claude Berry - 1 1 steers, $5 10. L. A. West- 12 steers, $502; 34 steers, $455. F. G. McNie - 10 steers, $507. S. P. Berry - 11 Friesian steers, $440. Raymond Berry - 26 Friesian steers, $440.
Raymond Berry - 26 Friesian bulls, $460. E. H. & A. Greenwood - 26 steers, $455. Hammond & Bolstead - 10 steers, $514. D. Annand - 12 steers, $502. V/2 year heifers: G. Smith, 8 - $444; G. Dillon, 7 - $392, 5 - $410, 8 - $394; P. Scarrow, 6 - $360; D. Annand, 9 - $4.10; C. Earl, 12 -$337; S. McNie, 9 - $325. Wrightson Wrightson NMA had I'A year steers ranging from $610 to $461. Main vendors were: A. P. & J. L. Proud , 8 at $46 1 , 8 at $470, 9 at $500, 9 at $455; G. Taylor, 5 at $504. 1 Zi year heifers: R. S. Godfrey, 6 at $502; R. Scarrow, 13 at $341; Solitte syndicate, 27 at $289.
