Duck puts power off

A wild duck which flew into a power line in Upper Thames Street, Ohakune at 5.18am on Wednesday morning, caused a short power cut in Ohakune and Rangataua. Shortly afterwards, a fault was detected in a line behind Ruapehu Outback Adventures in Clyde Street, which forced the King Country Electric Power Board to cut power from 6.33am through to 7.09am. The duck's singed body was found on the side of the road.
