MP opens National Park's new pool

Two hundred people witnessed King Country MP Jim Bolger officially open National Park's allweather swimming pool last Saturday. The pool is now completely covered and has been turned into an all-year-round amenity. The tweniy-year-old pool had previously only been suitable for use on warm summer days. The conversion cost $30,000. Part of the money was donated by local businesses, organisations and individuals, the rest coming from a government

grant to the local community council and an Internal Affairs grant. After cutting the ribbon to officially open the pool, Mr Bolger said it was "a really great achievement for such a small community and everyone involved in the project can feel justifiably proud." The pool is for both the school and the community and school principal, Mr Dave Macrae, said it was the intention of the swimming baths committee to make the pool available to the public at least fifty hours per week for most of the year.
