Ski gear stolen

Six thousand dollars worth of ski gear was stolen from a goods shed at the Ohakune railway station on Thursday night. The consignment of ski equipment was destined for a local ski shop. Police enquiries into the theft are continuing.

Work is currently underway on the Turoa skifield, in preparation for the forthcoming season. A helicopter was called in when it was necessary to carry concrete onto the mountain last week.

Pictured above are, L to R: Mike Wheatley, Davrd Inkster and Tod Noble, guiding the container holding the concrete into place near tower seven on the jumbo T-bar lift. The concrete will be used in the construction of 200 metres of new snow-fencing.
