Television Preview

Tonight (Tuesday) on One, the evening is dominated by New Zealand's semi-final appearance in the World Championship of Cricket. It will be a long night and, 1 hope, a successful one. Wednesday on One at 7.30pm, The Bafta Awards which is the U.K.'s answer to the Oscar's and Emmy's, all rolled into one. The final of Partners in Crime follows at 9.30pm. On Two at 11pm, I've started watching The Untouchables which I was too young to watch when it first aired on our screens some years back. It is interesting to see the ageless Robert Stack as Elliot Ness, a part which set him on the road to fame and fortune. Thursday 6pm on One, the best episode from Taxi

(my humble opinion of course!) in which the Reverend Jim returns home to see his millionaire father. I think that from now on, I shall be watching 'Allo 'Allo on One at 9.30pm which is a 'take-off'of Secret Army which in itself was an excellent programme. It is written by the same men who were responsible for Dad's Army, Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft. Friday's movie for after school is an Australian production, Platypus Cove which looks to be a real thriller. At 10.05pm an interesting look at a group of British girls and boys who were filmed as seven-year-olds by the World in Action team in 1 964, then as 1 4 and 2 1 yearolds. They are now 28 and have been tracked down and filmed again. One of the T.V. highlights of the week for me, (obviously N.Z.'s cricket appearances are the highlight!) At 6.30pm on Two, The Grammy Awards which will not feature Michael Jackson taking every award, as he didn't have an album out this year, obviously because his Thriller L.P. is still selling like hotcakes. I expect to see Cyndi Lauper take a lot of the honours along with Tina Turner. Remember guys, 'Girls just wanna have fun!' Karen Sims is excellent in Foreign Correspondent, Saturday on Two at 8.30pm. Family Ties, on Two Sunday at 7pm is also a better than average American sit-com and certainly the character of Alex makes the show even better.
