A MESSAGE FROM THE OHAKUNE NEW WORLD

We have had enquiries over the past few weeks about the following four items which hopefully this letter will go some of the way to explain the situation. ★ ★ ★ Out of Stocks Like all shops — whatever they are selling — we are facing major problems with stock shortages. This has been brought about by many factors which are beyond our control. Hopefully the following excert from our bulletin will explain the situation better. The situation at that time revealed that we

were out of stock of some 221 locally manufactured products, each of which we would expect to sell at least one carton per week. Of these 221 items a total of 137 were either not supplied or short delivered by manufacturers or simply not available from the manufacturer. One company dominated this list this year and certainly had it not been for them the situation would have looked a good deal better. Of the balance, i.e. 84 line items; 42 were in stock one week later, but 42 were unable to be replaced within that week. Of the 84 lines ndt

attributable to manufaeturer out of stock, 56 went out of stock due to extraordinary demand. In this list we only included those items which more than doubled normal weekly demand. Of the balance, 28 were out of stock for no known reason and I guess we at the Warehouse must accept responsibility for this portion. Hours Our present hours are Monday-Thursday 8.30am5.30pm, Friday 8.30am6.00pm, Saturday 9.00am12 noon. However, these hours will be extended as from the 30th March.

P.L.U. Codes You will have noticed many of our items are now coded — i.e. Cold Water Surf, 1063. The reason for this is that we are upgrading our tills again as from (hopefully) May, which will give you the following information: time of purchase, which till, which operator, an 8 lettered description of the product, as well as your change. These tills will have the capacity of storing 1900 prices in their memory so from that date you will have no problems with wrong prices being charged (hopefully they are correct at present).

Shelf Relay We have had a problem with our growth in that the shop is becoming very crammed and messy. Some time over the next two months we will be closing for a Saturday (you will be notified well in advance) so that the professionals that we have employed can re-allocate stock more room for those goods needing the room. I hope these items will go some way to explaining what we are up to over the next few months and I sincerely hope we will be able to improve our services and prices over this next year. Thank you.
