Deputy Mayor of Raetihi, Councillor John Compton, is now to remain in the town. Last month it was announced Mr Compton was leaving Raetihi However, following a change of company thinking, Mr Compton will now be remaining in his job of merchandise manager for Dalgety Crown in Raetihi. The change of heart by Dalgety Crown is good news for Raetihi Borough Council, as a costly by-election which would have been necessary if Mr Compton had left the area, can now be avoided.
