Racing with BULLY

Racing this Saturday which will hold most interest with punters will be Matamata and Woodville with very good programmes carded at both meetings. Interest in locally trained horses at Matamata is generally fairly keen and this time is no exception with several outstanding prospects notably La Blanche, Document and Orangeade all set to win.

Neighbouring track Te Rapa also has some good horses just about due and they include Imperial Phoenix and Kitty Oshea while track watchers at Pukekohe are just waiting for Baytona to go to the races. The connections of this fellow are expecting a good season with him. In the Central Districts Woodville always attracts good advantages and all

trainers seem to enjoy their visits there. Several Hastings horses are expected to appear and we could see good races from Noggin, Whitole and especially Kents Mistake. The latter is a daughter of Brazen Lady and has her mothers turn of speed by all accounts. Could be one to stay with. Racing, like rugby last season, seems to be going through a bad patch injury-

wise and we all hope it is now over. It is obviously a sport with an element of danger at most times but several serious injuries have occured to jockeys of late. Since Karen Thornly and her serious fall at Auckland we now have Sherie O'Connor from Wanganui suffering serious internal injuries when she fell with her horse while racing at Tauherenikau on Waitangi

day. She is a patient at Masterton Hospital. Earlier in the day Jason McCartney fell from his mount and although it first appeared as though he too was badly injured, I am pleased to hear that he suffered only severe bruising. Remember Bully tips them first and you will read it in the Bulletin ... and this weeks special ... Both Barrells.
