Waimarino's softball champions
Ruapehu College Old Boys softball team has been selected to represent the Waimarino at the National Pan Am Softball Championships in Hamilton at the end of this month. The selection was made by the New Zealand Softball Association after representatives of the association
watched the team play during several matches. The Ruapehu players are excited at the prospect of mingling with and playing against some of the country's top players. The team is managed by Walter Sue and coached by Mike Wiggins and Steve Hawira. Softball has only been
played in the Ruapehu region for three seasons and Ruapehu Old Boys have been local champions every year. It is this consistency that has resulted in them being selected for the national championships. At present team members are fund-raising for the trip to Hamilton, which will be for six days.
