Martial art champs
A small contingent from Ohakune and National Park attended the Wellington Regional KarateTournament hosted by the New Zealand Martial Arts Council held in Porirua recently. From Whanaake Rangataua Karate, Alex Holes and Kevan Lind of National Park fared exceptionally well in hard-fought bruising matches.
Charles Mareikura was runner-up in the Black Belt under 75kg section and also was combined winner in the mens open weight, open grade section with Vern Winitana (Porirua), also of Whanaake Rangataua Karate. Of the six divisions staged four were won by Whanaake Rangataua Karate.
