Blue and Jan leave home
After several months of hard work on their 1951 Bedford bus, Blue and Jan Forrest set off in it on a two-year adventure on Wednesday. Blue and Jan headed north to visit relations. After that, "We will just take things as they come," said Jan, formerly a taxi driver in Ohakune, "We're not making any plans as the best of
plans go astray." Blue, a retired army staff sergeant, bought the bus last winter and converted it into a travelling home with the help of friends. The couple — who are accompanied by their pet cat — plan to be away until the summer of 1986, apart from a brief return to the Waimarino for a family wedding later this year.
