TELEVISION PREVIEW
Soap fans, today is the day we have all been waiting for, yes the return of The Young and the Restless, Days of our Lives and tomorrow, Prisoner. I don't know about you readers, but I've forgotten what has been happening
although there are two questions that I want answered. Is Laurie going to be found guilty and will the police find David? On Two, Tuesday 8.30pm. part two of the mini-serial, Master of the Game, starring Cary Grant's wife, Dyan Cannon and gorgeous hunk, Harry Hamlin who is
the father of Ursula Andress's son. The family saga spans 100 years and sees Miss Cannon age from 17 to 90 years old. She is in fact 46 years young. Science fiction fans will be watching Television One on Wednesday at 10.10pm. Destination: Moonbase Alpha stars ex-Mission Impossible cast members, Martin Landau and Barbara Bain. A new series on One at 7.00pm Thursday evening called Challengers looks to be standard fare from now on, another programme in the Jacques Cousteau mould, which can't be bad. The Late Movie on the same channel at II. 05pm was directed by Bryan Forbes and stars George Segal, Tom Courtenay and James Fox. King Rat is set in Changi Prison and is based on the James Clavell novel of the same name. It is an excellent movie, rather gruesome in parts but generally portrays life as it must have been in what was one of Japan's most notorious prison camps in World War II. On Two at 8.35pm a repeat screening of Roots: The Next Generation, a
seven part sequel to Roots which completes the story of Alex Haley's descendants. Solid Gold host, Rick Dees, has grown on me to such an extent that I don't like missing the show on Two, Friday evening at 6.30pm. There are some typical silly American jokes but he is a likeable and genial presenter who is more used to being behind a radio microphone at a Los Angeles F.M. station. Auckland listeners can hear him every Sunday morning on Magic 9 1 FM in his syndicated Top 40 show. At 8.35pm on One, some of you will endure half an hour of Brian Edwards in Let Me Speak, hardly his type of show and one I will miss for sure! 7.30pm Saturday on One is what the Television powers call Prime Time, rather a shame that the ridiculous Love Boat occupies that slot. My 'better half' never misses the Sunday Horror on Two at 10. 10pm whilst I always have an early night. I wonder how many other households follow the same routine on Sunday evenings? Happy viewing.
