Turoa skiing cheap for Australians
Australian tourists are finding that the current exchange rate which sees their dollar become N.Z. $1.70, ensures that a holiday in this country is not only a bargain but a steal. In an article published in an Australian business magazine recently, it was reported. that an estimated 1.2 million Australians will be travelling overseas this year and that skiing holidays are particularly good value for money. A.H.I. Turoa Manager, Tony Wright, said last week that a skiing holiday in Ohakune is an attractive proposition for the Australian tourist interested in value for money.
"For AS269 they receive transport from Auckland to Ohakune, bunk-house accommodation and five days' skiing at the Turoa Skifield." Mr Wright added that for AS575, Australians would again have transport from Auckland, accommodation at the Sunbeam Lodge including breakfast, and five days' skiing. "Air fares from Australia are additional and range in price from A$320—$632 Mr Wright believes that whilst the devaluation of the New Zealand dollar will initially make the skiing packages more attractive to the Australian tourist than a holiday at their own skifields, inflationary trends in this country may well off-set
any savings the Australians may have made in coming here. Despite this, Turoa Skifield will be extensively advertised in Australian ski magazines whilst Public Relations Manager, Andy Chapman will also be making three visits to the country to attend ski shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
