Police File

Two burglaries took place in Raetihi this week — one at the KayCee Store, the other at the bowling cluh. Police enquiries are continuing into both incidents. The KayCee store was broken into on the night of 19/20 January and cartons of cigarettes were stolen. The stolen goods were valued at $500. ★ ★ ★ On the same night the Raetihi Bowling Club was broken into and a small quantity of liquor was taken. ★ ★ ★ The previous night, 18/19 January a beer bottle was thrown through the window of Bowers Electrical in Raetihi. The window was smashed but nothing was stolen from the shop. * ★ ★ On 17/ 18 January a 1975 Yamaha 250cc motorcycle was taken from the single mens quarters of the New Zealand Forestry camp in

Clyde Street, Ohakune. The machine was yellow and did not have a registration plate. Police enquiries are continuing into the incident. ★ ★ ★

On Saturday January 19, a 20-year-old man was arrested in Ohakune for an assault the previous evening in the Ohakune Hotel. The man is due to appear in court.
