RAETIHI CONSTABLE TRANSFERS TO TAIHAPE
Constable Kevin Entwisle, Raetihi's sole charge policeman for the past two * years has left the Waimarino to become part of the Taihape police team. He is being replaced this week by Constable Trevor Pullan from Ellerslie in Auckland. Kevin, his wife Kerry and two children, a daughter Jamie, 2x/i , and one-year old Mark, who was born in Raetihi, made the move to Taihape last Wednesday. Kevin is moving to Taihape basically to further his studies. As part of a larger team at a 24-hour police station he will be on shift work. This will provide him with an opportunity to study when he is not on duty. As sole-charge policeman at Raetihi he was on call at any time but he certainly
doesn't regret his two years in the Waimarino. "I like the area and it's been brilliant as far as gaining experience is concerned ... I've learned more in two years than I could ever have hop.ed to do in the same time elsewhere." "And I won't be leaving the area altogether as the Taihape station will be maintaining a patrol presence up here and I've been offered that assignment. It means that I will be able to maintain contact with the many friends I've made up here in the past two years." Kevin wants to complete his studies and sit his exams as soon as possible as he feels that his promotion prospects will be enhanced from next year onwards following the adoption of the early retirement scheme for the police.
