It is a non-profit making service. A primary function of the information centre is to provide help for visitors and encourage people to visit our region. Its secondary function is to act as a storehouse of information for residents of the region on activities, sightseeing attractions, clubs and other miscellaneous data. There is also a small resource library on matters relating to tourism both in the region and on a national scale. To really fulfill its functions, the information centre needs to be open 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week during school holidays. >. CAN YOU HELP? At the moment we have one employee who works 38 hours a week. We need help in manning the centre the other 32 hours. Even 1 hour a week would be helpful. You would spend your time in a comfortable office meeting interesting people and learning all sorts of amazing things about our own region. The job is not demanding. It simply requires a pleasant, helpful manner in dealing with people's enquiries. And in between enquiries you could catch up on your knitting/ letters/ book/ study/ or whatever. If you would like to spend some of your time at the centre, please phone Miss Joanne Boyle on Ohakune 58151. Give Joanne details of the days and hours you would be prepared to help each week.
