High technology was the name of the game for about 20 boys on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 November at Ruapehu College. The boys spent 25 hours holding a computerthon to raise money for more computer hardware. The college owns four computers at present, but requires eight as Third and Sixth Formers will need computers next year. The boys worked in groups of four, with two on the computer at a time. The computerthon raised about $1200 but more money is expected to come in. Other "senior students from the School took part in the community service day. Odd jobs ranging from painting softball diamonds to delivering 'Meals on Wheels' were undertaken by the pupils.
The day was held to give students an opportunity to express their gratitude for the support received from the local people during the year. Similar days were held in 1982 and 1983. The children were en-
couraged to . work for pensioners and mothers with pre-schoolers. Other jobs included helping at the Ohakune Borough Council, Kaohengahero pa and Raetihi Hospital. Those contacted by the
Bulletin all agreed that the day was highly successful. "The two girls who came to my place were most willing to work and did a very good job," said Mrs Chan of Ohakune.
