Racing with BULLY

Now that the Kiwi affair in Melbourne has subsided somewhat it was pleasing to read that the horse and his connections have been invited to race in the Japan Cup in Tokyo at the beginning of December. Kiwi replaces Librici who had to be scratched because of an injury, which probably explains why the latter did not come up so well this time in. His form lately has been only a shadow of his former self. This week sees racing at

Auckland and Wanganui so we will have a look up North first. At Te Awamutu Honorary Guest has been very impressive in his work and providing he gets a firm track he is expected to be in the winner's circle very soon. At Te Rapa Severino has pleased his connections and they expect to start him at Ellerslie so watch for an early show of form from this fellow. Sweet Hostage shows plenty of speed and Our Mellay has that winning polish on and is worth being with from now on. Down to Wanganui now, and while many of us had hoped that Kiwi would be starting in the Tenderkist Cup this week obviously we will have to wait to see the champion at a later date. The fields at Wanganui promise to be of a high standard and several to be with would include the locally trained Domicillio and from Marton Wimsey and Future Legend.

From Taranaki Malcolmen is expected to show the benefit of some solid training and Wyuna could help put things right after a bit of inspired betting went astray at Stratford. The riding premiership for 1984/85 is wellunderway now and last season's leading trio are at it again. David Walsh, at present out with an injury leads from David Peake and Garry Phillips. The latter. had a great meeting at Riccarton over the cup carnival and rode eight winners over the three days. His record on this course is probably unsurpassed and will certainly take a lot of beating. Also high on the jockey list are the girls Debbie Healy and Marie Lyndon, both of whom give nothing away to the men when it comes to a tight finish. Their balance and drive is absolutely first class. Remember Bully tips them first and you have read it in the Bulletin, this week's special up north is Lord Pal.
