PUBLIC NOTICES Volunteers needed The Ruapehu Region Information Centre opened in July. It is a non-profit making service. A primary function of the information centre is to provide help for visitors and encourage people to visit our region. Its secondary function is to act as a storehouse of information for residents of the region on activities, sightseeing attractions, clubs and other miscellaneous data. There is also a small resource library on matters relating to tourism both in the region and on a national scale. T o really fulfill its functions, the information centre needs to be open 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week during school holidays. CAN YOU HELP? At the moment we have one employee who works 38 hours a week. We need help in manning the centre the other 32 hours. Even 1 hour a week would be helpful. You would spend your time in a comfortable office meeting interesting people and learning all sorts of amazing things about our own region. The job is not demanding. It simply requires a pleasant, helpful manner in dealing with people's enquiries. And in between enquiries you could catch up on your knitting/ letters/ book/ study/ or whatever.
