It seems almost impossible to believe that the driver of this Panmure-based truck escaped with his life when he crashed while driving between National Park and Taumarunui a fortnight ago. The accident happened on State Highway 4 near Raurimu when the driver lost control of the timber-laden truck-and-trailer unit which overturned spilling its load and trapping the driver inside the cab. Members of the National Park Fire Brigade were able to extract the driver out of a small gap in the tangled wreckage.
