This is the truck that was involved in the fatal collision with a carsouth of Waiouru which we reported last week. A 27-year old Taihape man died in the aecident when his Chrysler Valiant ran under the truck. After the impact the articulated truck and containers overturned and blocked State Highway One for more than two hours until the Army's heavy recovery vehiclesfrom Waiouru were able to clear one lane. The driver of the truck from Hamilton managed to get out through the broken windscreen and was able to free his trapped passenger after first dousing a smallfire in thecab with wet sand and mud taken from the side of the road.
