Community Cabaret for School Pool
On Saturday 22 September the National Park Home and School Association raised nearly $1 100 towards the new pool complex, of which $500 was in the form of materials which had been generously donated towards the changing sheds. King Neptune's Cabaret attracted approximately 150
people. \ Children provided the decor with a King Neptune' theme — marine posters, huge shark murals and papier-mache fish suspended from nets which filled the entire area of the new Waikune Social Club complex. An enormous octopus
drawn by Mr Joe Jacobs lined the back wall of the stage and each feeler depicted the progress to hand. Cash to hand: Community Council $10,000; Internal Affairs $8,800; Community support and Pool Heating Committee $5,200; Lands and Survey Dept $1,500;
Donated materials $500, giving a total of $26,000. Costs: Pool cover(Fletcher Brown Built) $21,500; Changing Sheds $2,500; Filtration & Heating $3,000; Sundry $2,000 giving a total of $29,000 which leaves $3000 outstanding still to be attained. The Home and School Association would like to thank all members of the community who made donations throughout the evening. Linda Pakau-Bowring
