Ruapehu Radio shutdown

Ruapehu Radio (2XR) ceasid transmission at 7pm on Saturday 29 September when station manager Dave Campbell (pictured) switched off the power supply at the base of the transmission mast near Ohakune. Dave Campbell and his team have been 'on air'in the Ruapehu region for the past two months broadcasting up-to-the-minute news and entertainment for the benefit of a community that lacks such a service during the remaining ten months of the year. He promises that he had his rrierry band of broadcasters will return next year for the ski season.
