Racing with BULLY

On behalf of all local Ohakune Punters, I would like to thank Mrs Shirley Nieol, manageress of the Ohakune TAB, for the very good service she has given us while she has been in charge this last couple of years. Shirley always had a nice word to say (even when we were doing our money) and her pleasant manner will be missed. Very best wishes for the future. As from 8 October, the TAB will be run from John Nation's 'Skierslnn', and as it will be run by staff completely new to the operation of the jet bet computor, punters will again have to show patience when things get a bit hectic 5 minutes before the closing time of their particular race. I would suggest that all bets are laid in plenty of time to give the new operation a chance to settle in.

This week we have Masterton racing on their own course at Opaki, and as yet the big argument in the Wairarapa has not reached a satisfactory conclusion as to where the centre for that area would finally be. Each centre, as is to be expected, has its very strong supporters as well as equally strong critics. It would appear as though the New Zealand Racing Conference will have to step in and be the arbitrator with their decision being final. Donna's Habbit and Henton Sky could be interesting acceptors at Masterton, while from Hastings Our Buddy could really give the milers some hurry up. Shazaam from Foxton is also burning up the track in training and it will not be long before he is back saluting the judge again. This fellow is pretty good. Apptitude and Go Mama are two from the Manawatu who, if they make the final payment, could bring home a good slice of the prize money on offer. Auckland will be racing this week and one who will be worth following will be Rushcutter from Avondale. First Sovereign is on a new campaign also so don't let him sneak in on you. Remember Bully tips them first in the Bulletin.
