BIG DAY ENDS WITH BALL

Approximately400 people attended the Carrotgrowers' Charity Ball held in the Ohakune Primary School hall on Saturday evening. The hall, which had been decorated by pupils and staff from Ruapehu College, was described as 'amazing' by several people. It resembled a dark cave with strange insects scattered along its roof and sides. The tables were decorated with carrot candles and food galore.

Entertainment from the Yandall Sisters, P.G. and the Hot Tips and Jon Zealando meant that there was never an opportunity to become bored. Highlight of the evening was the massive auction which included fertilizers, dinners at various restaurants in Ohakune, jet boat rides, clothing, assorted farming aids, and other items too numerous to mention. Festivities continued into the wee small hours.
