For the first time since it was formed in 1979 the Wanganui United Council conducted one of its2-monthly meetings outside the city when they met in Ohakune last Friday week. After the meeting they toured the Borough. Members of the United Council who posed for this historic photo on the steps of the Council Chambers included, from left, Mr A. Guy (Waitotara), Mr Bill Taylor (Mayor, Ohakune), Mr C. Blaikie (Chairman, Waitotara County), Mr J. Forrest (Chairman, Rangatikei County), Mr A. Penn (Wanganui County), Mr Noel Byford (Mayor, Taihape at rear), Mr Doug Turney (Mayor, Wanganui City), Mr Bruce Berry (Chairman, Waimarino County), Mr Dave Vallely (Wanganui City), Mr D. Boswell (Wanganui City) and Mr B. Gorringe ( Rangatikei- Wanganui Catchment Board). Absent was Mr Vic Goodman, Mayor of Marton.
